Frequently asked question (2)

Launching programs from MS Windows icons

QUESTION: I launch (execute) the MS-DOS/Windows version of HYDROxx, just doble-clicking in the icon of the executable file. Then I have a problem ... I don't know what happens ...

ANSWER: In such cases (if not always), it is advisable to run the HYDROxxx executable from the classical, (now old-fashioned) typical, black MS-DOS window, to which you can access from Windows. Just place the HYDROxxx.exe file and the data file in a working directory, and invoke the name of the program HYDROxxx (without the .exe extension). When there are errors that cause the program to abort, you may see some error messages in this mode, that will tell you what appends. However, the messages cannot be seen if you launch the program with the mouse on the icon.
